Louisville Soccer secured a 3-2 comeback victory over Kentucky in an early-season match at the Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington, improving the Cards to 2-0 on the season and tying the all-time series at 18-18-6.
Kentucky jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, with Michael Lee opening the scoring in the 17th minute and Yasha Schaerer doubling the advantage in the 30th.
A Late Turnaround
Louisville answered back in the second half, drawing level through a penalty converted by Andres Escuerdo in the 56th minute, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
Midfielder Giacomo Zizza then took control, striking twice in the closing minutes — first to equalize in the 82nd and then to clinch the win at 89:52 — while goalkeeper Nathaniel Abraham made two key saves.
Coach John Michael Hayden’s record against the Cats improved to 4-3-1, underscoring the rivalry’s intensity and the team’s resilience.
