The Seattle Kraken are preparing to roll out a fresh uniform collection that will debut at the start of the next NHL season, a move that aligns with the league's broader push to give each franchise a distinctive visual tie to its home city.
City-Inspired Designs Take Center Stage
The initiative is part of a league-wide program that will see all 32 teams sport special "city-inspired" jerseys, a strategy that the NHL says is meant to deepen the connection between clubs and their supporters.
Leaked concepts and fan-generated artwork have already given a glimpse of the designs, which center on a deep navy palette and incorporate motifs drawn from Seattle's waterfront, its historic Pike Place Market and the region's maritime heritage.
The Kraken's previous uniform releases, including the black "Abyss" jerseys and the Reverse Retro and Winter Classic variants, set a precedent for bold, heritage-driven aesthetics, making the upcoming collection a natural evolution of the team's visual identity.
Among the seven fan-generated designs that have surfaced, one pays homage to the Seattle Seahawks with a subtle feather motif, another reimagines the historic Seattle Metropolitans through a stylized anchor and striped sleeves, and a third draws directly from Pike Place Market, swapping a fictional sea monster for market stalls and salmon imagery.
Additional concepts explore the city's coastal character: an "Ocean Blue" version layers neon green accents over a midnight navy base, while a "Get The Red Out" design replaces the team's traditional red with a glow-in-the-dark green hue that mirrors the Pacific Northwest's overcast skies.
These designs are intended to create a cohesive visual language that reflects Seattle's branding and gives fans a sense of ownership over the team's look, weaving local landmarks and cultural symbols into the fabric of the uniforms.
