The Beacon High football program is entering a pivotal season as it transitions from Section 9 Class A to the competitive landscape of Section 9 Class B. With a roster heavy on seniors, the team is banking on an experienced defensive unit to anchor its ambitions and push for a deep postseason run.
Defensive Identity
Senior linebacker Quincy Owens has voiced the unit’s philosophy, emphasizing that a tenacious, physical front will be the cornerstone of the team’s success. ‘Our defense sets the tone for everything we do,’ Owens said, highlighting the group’s commitment to discipline and relentless effort.
Beyond raw talent, the defense is built on a culture of accountability and trust that has developed over years. Many players have known each other since seventh grade, forging bonds that translate into seamless communication on the field.
Senior Jah'Real Whitted echoes the sentiment, stressing that hard work and consistency are non‑negotiable. ‘We grind every day, knowing that every rep counts toward the ultimate goal of a Section championship,’ he explained.
Opening Tests
The Beacon Beacons open the season on September 4 against Ketcham before hosting Red Hook in their home debut on September 18. Both opponents present early challenges that will test the team’s readiness and depth.
