The 2026 boys soccer season in the Suburban Athletic Conference is poised to be markedly different from the previous year, as the league has reshuffled its divisions and reconfigured team placements across the board.
A new competitive landscape
Central York entered the campaign as the Division I champion, but its run ended early in the league tournament, paving the way for Northeastern to capture the final with a 1‑0 victory in overtime.
The realignment saw Division II champion Susquehannock and New Oxford climb into Division I, while York Catholic, Biglerville and Bermudian Springs rose from Division III, and York High dropped to a lower tier.
Among the returning standouts are Division I all‑stars Nolan Bozovich, Dylan Funk and Michael Hartzinikolas from Central York, alongside Ethan Erdley, Dean Merrill and Grant Stephens of Northeastern.
Division II Player of the Year Jonathan Stermer and Brandon Caceres are set to return for York Suburban, adding experience to a squad that hopes to contend.
New blood will also shape the early schedule, with newcomers such as Jonathan Baker, Josiah Biggus and Malachi Blount expected to make an impact alongside other fresh faces.
The first official matches are slated for August 28, 2026, marking the start of a season that promises both familiar rivalries and fresh storylines.
Former SCAC First Team all‑stars Matthew DeBell, Daniel Mace and Alex Neff have moved on from Central York, while Susquehannock’s key returnees include Riley Ahrens, Nick Albert and Landon Baker, and York Catholic’s Division III veterans Joey Kelchaw and Will Holtz look to build on last year’s success.
The league’s new structure blends seasoned veterans with promising newcomers, setting the stage for a competitive and unpredictable year on the pitch.
