A Schedule Designed for Challenge
Indiana University’s men’s basketball program has released a 2026‑27 non‑conference schedule that stretches to twelve games, nine of which will be played on the familiar hardwood of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The slate was constructed to test the team’s depth and to provide marquee experiences early in the season.
The NCAA’s recent rule change that adds an extra non‑conference slot has allowed the Hoosiers to schedule five contests against high‑major opponents, including Syracuse, Arkansas, Kentucky, UCF and Missouri. Each of those games promises a different style of play and a chance to measure the team against some of the nation’s most respected programs.
Exhibitions and Guaranteed Matchups
Before the regular season begins, the team will take part in three exhibition games against Butler, North Carolina and Western Kentucky in October, using the contests to fine‑tune chemistry and evaluate new additions. The regular season opens with home victories over Eastern Illinois on November 2 and Bellarmine on November 5, followed by a string of seven guaranteed games that include Western Illinois, UCF, Missouri and Fairleigh Dickinson throughout December.
Looking Toward the Big Ten
With the non‑conference portion mapped out, attention now turns to the upcoming Big Ten schedule, which will be released later in the year. The conference slate will determine the path to the postseason and will be the final piece of the puzzle as the Hoosiers aim to translate early‑season tests into sustained success.
