Jorge Morales was named Lenoir‑Rhyne University’s interim head coach on February 27, 2026, stepping into the role after three seasons as an assistant.
A Coach With a Global Footprint
Born in Colombia and raised in the United States, Morales combines South American roots with North American collegiate experience. He played at Ohio Valley University and Graceland University before turning professional in the West Virginia Chaos and various Kansas City‑area teams.
His coaching résumé includes tactical analyst and sport‑psychology certifications from FC Barcelona, as well as a stint on the staff at Benedictine College, where he helped guide the program to an NCAA Tournament berth and two SAC Championship game appearances.
During his assistant tenure at Lenoir‑Rhyne, Morales mentored a SAC Scholar‑Athlete of the Year, an Academic All‑American, four All‑Region honorees and 13 All‑SAC selections, underscoring his ability to develop both athletically and academically.
Morales now lives in Hickory, North Carolina, with his wife Kate and their children Elena and Tomas, a personal stability that he hopes will translate into sustained success for the Bears.
The university’s athletic director praised Morales’s blend of playing experience, analytical insight and community connection, noting that his interim appointment is positioned to build on the program’s recent competitive breakthroughs.
