Austin FC has named Khaled El-Ahmad as its chief soccer officer and sporting director, a move that places the veteran executive at the helm of the club’s soccer operations.
A Strategic Appointment
El-Ahmad arrives after stints as chief executive and sporting director of Barnsley FC in England and as a senior executive with Minnesota United FC and the ownership group of New York City FC. In his new role he will oversee player development, recruitment, scouting and the integration of the Academy into the MLS pathway.
Club chairman Anthony Precourt praised the hire, citing El-Ahmad’s global experience and vision for a modern sporting organization, while CEO Andy Loughnane said the appointment aligns with Austin FC’s ambition to build a sustainable, competitive structure.
Jim Curtin, previously announced as the club’s next head coach, will report to El-Ahmad when he assumes duties at the conclusion of the 2026 season, ensuring continuity in the club’s leadership pipeline.
