From Thursdays to Tradition
Six University of Florida students — Joshua Kilpatrick, Micah DeHaven, Christopher Bilbruck, Hunter Lazare, Cooper Cowen, and Cody Nguyen — have turned a simple Thursday night pastime into a rallying force for Gators soccer.
What began as a way to fill free time quickly evolved into a full‑blown fan experience at Donald R. Dizney Stadium, where the group now brings drumsticks, orange‑and‑blue overalls, and even painter’s buckets to amplify the atmosphere.
A Journey Beyond Gainesville
Last season the crew traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to support the Gators against LSU, camping overnight in the rain before the match. Their perseverance was rewarded with post‑game pizza from the team and cheers from fellow supporters.
The same dedication carried them to the SEC Tournament showdown with Kentucky, where their presence added a distinct, energetic layer to the stands.
Coach’s Praise and Community Impact
UF coach Nick Zimmerman publicly praised the group’s enthusiasm, urging them to expand their influence and inviting more fans to join the experience.
Beyond the stadium, the students aim to grow their “army” over the next three years, encouraging peers to attend at least one game and feel the transformative power of showing up.
Their tradition now includes a lively center‑field drum circle, chants, and direct interaction with players who welcome the group as part of the Gators family.
