Northern Nevada High School Football Power Rankings: Week 2 Recap
The latest Northern Nevada high school football power rankings place Churchill County at the top of the 4A classification, giving the team a 2‑0 start after victories over Bishop Manogue and Reed.
Spanish Springs has surged to second place following a 35‑7 win over Carson, a performance that showcased quarterback Kanon Boggs and wide receiver George Deacon‑Buddy in decisive roles.
Churchill County’s defense proved stingy, limiting Reed to just 61 rushing yards while quarterback Camden Richardson contributed two interceptions, underscoring the team’s balanced attack.
Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch, one of the few 5A North programs with a win, routed Paradise (Calif.) 55‑14, with senior quarterback Christian Diehl throwing for 227 yards and three touchdowns.
Galena also impressed, defeating Pahrump Valley 47‑7; junior quarterback Colton Smith passed for 315 yards and five scores, while receivers Lane Billau and Simon Greene each crossed the 100‑yard mark.
South Tahoe remains the sole 3A North team unbeaten at 2‑0, having bested Wooster and North Valleys, and now prepares to test its mettle against Churchill County this week.
Bishop Manogue suffered a 48‑14 loss to Clovis West, where junior quarterback Parker Scholl completed only 9 of 23 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown, while Reno’s narrow 34‑33 defeat to Bullard (Calif.) hinged on a controversial call that left sophomore quarterback Trevor Martinelli’s debut promising yet unfinished.
Carson, by contrast, struggled offensively in a 35‑7 loss to Spanish Springs, as junior quarterback Dylan Loff managed just 89 passing yards.
Standout Players
Sophomore running back Alijah Juraez led the charge for Churchill County with 102 rushing yards and a touchdown, while also topping the tackle count with 13 stops against Reed. Kanon Boggs, now a sophomore, continues to demonstrate poise at quarterback, and his connection with George Deacon‑Buddy proved pivotal in the Carson victory.
