The Montgomery school district unveiled Bianca Jackson as the new head coach of the Carver-Montgomery girls basketball program for the upcoming 2026-27 season, marking a homecoming for a native talent who once dazzled the state's courts.
A Star’s Journey From Player to Coach
Jackson earned the 2017 Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year honor while leading Brewbaker Tech to prominence, later playing at the Division I level for South Carolina, Florida State and Georgia Tech before returning to Alabama to begin her coaching career.
In 2024 she joined the Alabama State women’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant, earning a promotion to assistant coach for the 2025-26 season, a trajectory that culminated in her first head-coaching appointment.
Reviving a Program With Deep Roots
Carver-Montgomery, a storied program that last captured a state championship in 1993, has not returned to the playoff picture in the 2025-26 campaign, leaving a vacuum that administrators hope Jackson can fill.
Her vision centers on restoring consistency, building a competitive culture and ultimately ending a three-decade title drought that has lingered over the school.
Athletic directors cited her familiarity with the community, her proven leadership at the high school level and her strategic acumen as key factors in the hiring decision.
Jackson expressed excitement about the opportunity, stating she wants to leave a lasting legacy for the girls who will wear the Wolverines’ colors and to bring a championship back to the city she grew up in.
