A Rocky Road into NASCAR
Katherine Legge, a 46‑year‑old driver from Surrey, England, has built a résumé that spans Formula E, IMSA and the NTT INDYCAR Series, but her most recent challenge has been stepping into the NASCAR Cup Series, where she ran seven races in 2025 and two more in 2026 with Live Fast Motorsports, also competing in the O’Reilly Series and ARCA Menards Series.
What makes the transition especially steep is NASCAR’s strict practice limits and testing bans, which compress the learning curve for any newcomer and have left Legge feeling out of step with the sport’s expectations.
The difficulty is underscored by the hostile environment she encountered, including death threats that forced a police officer to be stationed outside her home, a stark reminder that acceptance in NASCAR can come at a personal cost.

Legge has spoken openly about the emotional toll of the experience, describing NASCAR as 'by a million percent' harder to break into than the sportscar categories where she previously earned respect.
Her recent appearances in the ARCA Menards Series and occasional outings in the O’Reilly Series illustrate both her persistence and the limited opportunities that remain, as she continues to seek a foothold in a discipline that demands more than raw talent.
