Isaiah Shaw Joins UConn, Bolstering Huskies’ Transfer Roster

The 6‑foot‑8 wing arrives from Northern Arizona, adding depth as the program aims for a fresh 15‑man lineup

A Strategic Transfer

Isaiah Shaw, a 6‑foot‑8 wing who spent the last season at Northern Arizona, is set to join the University of Connecticut’s men’s basketball program, marking the sixth transfer portal addition for the Huskies this year.

During the 2023‑24 campaign Shaw averaged 8.1 points per game while shooting 46.4 % from the field and 46.4 % from beyond the arc, a performance that placed him among the team leaders in three‑point accuracy and volume.

His scoring bursts included three games with 20 points or more, and he contributed 16 assists, 15 blocks and 15 steals in just 18.3 minutes per appearance, underscoring his all‑around impact.

Shaw’s basketball journey has taken him from a freshman stint at Grand Canyon, through a season at Valparaiso, before landing at Northern Arizona, giving him experience across multiple programs.

The Huskies, under head coach Dan Hurley, are assembling a 15‑man roster to keep the regular rotation fresh, a strategy that also sees incoming freshmen Colben Landrew and Junior County joining the squad, while returning players such as Silas Demary Jr., Braylon Mullins, Jayden Ross and Jacob Ross prepare for the upcoming season.

Veteran guard Solo Ball will remain on the roster but will sit out the year after undergoing wrist surgery, a move that frees up minutes for newcomers like Shaw to make an immediate contribution.
