Ryan Ahlum, a Myers Park High School alumnus and former standout player, has been appointed head coach of the school’s baseball program, succeeding Erik Foor. His ascent comes after a nine‑year tenure as associate head coach during which the team posted a 172‑41 record, captured multiple conference titles and made deep postseason runs.
A Legacy Reimagined
A 2013 graduate of Myers Park, Ahlum earned all‑conference honors twice as a player and later spent a year at Division II Brevard before completing a degree in Communication Studies at UNC Charlotte.
Before stepping into the top role, he amassed twelve seasons of experience in travel baseball, refining a coaching approach that blends technical skill development with character building.
Principal Robert Folk voiced confidence that Ahlum’s leadership will preserve the program’s tradition of excellence, emphasizing student‑athlete growth and school pride as cornerstones of future success.
Under Ahlum’s guidance, the program aims to continue its trajectory of competitive play while fostering the personal development of each athlete, reinforcing Myers Park’s reputation as a baseball powerhouse in the region.
