The University of Hawaiʻi has turned the fifth floor of the Zone 20 parking structure into a lively pregame destination called Rooftop Pāʻina, just steps from the football stadium. Opening three hours before kickoff, the space welcomes fans with unobstructed views of the field, Diamond Head and the surrounding Mānoa valley, while entry remains free for those who hold a parking pass.
Rooftop Pāʻina replaces the former Pāʻina on the Path and blends local flavor with stadium scenery. Live performances from Hawai‘i’s Finest kick off the festivities, while a rotating lineup of island vendors offers food and drink, and a beer garden equipped with televisions streams college football action, creating a communal buzz before the Rainbow Warriors take the field.
Beyond general admission, the venue offers a premium VIP experience for those seeking a more exclusive atmosphere, and the team’s bus will drop players off on Dole Street, allowing supporters to cheer on the squad two and a half hours before kickoff as they walk through the rooftop hub.
Eric Mathews, director of marketing and fan experience, says the relocation of pregame activities to the parking structure is part of a broader effort to generate excitement and foster a stronger sense of community among fans.
