Tunkhannock Field Hockey readies for 2026 season

Veterans, newcomers and a focus on chemistry aim to lift the Tigers in Wyoming Valley Conference play

Tunkhannock High School’s field hockey program is gearing up for the 2026 campaign, blending a handful of seasoned veterans with a wave of fresh talent as it looks to build on a 7‑12 record from the previous year.

At the helm is Madison Klopp, now in her third year as head coach, who has assembled a core group that includes senior defender Leah DeMarco, who has logged four years on the varsity, and returning goalkeeper Emma Dickinson, who stepped into the net as a sophomore last season.

Coaching Philosophy

Coach Klopp repeatedly stresses intentionality and focus, insisting that deliberate practice and clear communication will be the team’s foundation.

The Tigers compete in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division II within District 2 Class A, slated to face opponents such as Northwest, Hazleton Area and Hanover Area throughout October.

Beyond the pitch, the squad has embraced off‑field rituals — team breakfasts, nature hikes and other outings — designed to tighten bonds, especially with the influx of incoming freshmen.

Looking Ahead

With a mix of experience and new energy, the program aims to grow and improve, leveraging both on‑field skill development and the camaraderie cultivated through shared activities.
