The Mariner Youth Soccer league will open its 2026 preseason jamboree under a new name that honors a beloved member of its community.
The event, now called the Forever 11 Preseason Jamboree, commemorates Maddie Eitas, a teenager who wore jersey number 11 and was known for her passion, energy and kindness on the field.
A lasting tribute
A permanent dedication named Maddie’s Circle has been installed at the Mariner Soccer Complex in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, featuring a cobblestone border, picnic tables, a tree and an Adirondack chair.
The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Friday at 5:30 p.m., with a ribbon‑cutting followed by an alumni game that will bring together players who once shared the pitch with Maddie.
Organizers note that the 2026 jamboree will run from August 29‑30, offering divisions for U‑8 through U‑14 boys and girls, with each team guaranteed three matches and registration details available at www.marineryouthsoccer.com.
Becky Eitas, Maddie’s mother, said she feels deep honor that the league’s celebration carries her daughter’s name, recalling how soccer shaped Maddie’s life and how she loved to inspire younger players.
The Forever1111 Foundation, created by Becky and Greg Eitas, will partner with the league to support local communities, extending Maddie’s spirit of service beyond the field.
League officials say the renamed jamboree not only celebrates a young athlete’s legacy but also reinforces the club’s commitment to community‑focused youth soccer.
