A New Chapter for the Terps
The University of Maryland’s field hockey program is gearing up for the 2026 campaign, bringing together a blend of seasoned veterans and a wave of promising newcomers.
Under head coach Missy Meharg, the Terps have built their preparation around fast‑break hockey, emphasizing team chemistry and a player‑driven training ethos that prizes connectivity on the pitch.
The roster, at 22 athletes, features five true freshmen alongside returning top scorers such as Jordyn Hollamon, Josie Hollamon and Maci Bradford, who together accounted for a large share of the team’s goals last season.
With five of the top six goal scorers from 2025 returning, the Terps expect a potent attacking unit that can sustain pressure throughout the Big Ten schedule.
The preseason poll has placed Maryland at No. 13, and the team will test its mettle against elite opponents including No. 3 Princeton, No. 6 Duke and No. 7 Wake Forest in upcoming marquee matchups.
The conference slate promises eight high‑profile contests, featuring showdowns with No. 1 Northwestern, No. 12 Iowa, No. 14 Michigan and No. 17 Rutgers, each offering a distinct tactical challenge.
Home games will begin with the Big Ten Tournament in Columbus, Ohio, where the Terps will enjoy the support of a passionate fan base and the familiarity of their own turf.
In goal, veterans Alyssa Klebasko and Ryleigh Osborne are expected to anchor the defense; Klebasko brings 35 career wins and 17 shutouts to the net, while Osborne adds depth and agility.
Coach Meharg has highlighted the squad’s selfless competitiveness and respect for the game, noting that the culture cultivated during preseason camp could be the foundation for a gritty, resilient season.
