Atlanta’s Pro Path youth soccer program, which offered free and low‑cost clinics over the summer, is now seeking a formal 2027 partnership with the City of Atlanta to expand affordable player development and competition.
The program’s culminating tournament featured a 13‑and‑under team that faced stronger independent club sides and emerged victorious, underscoring the effectiveness of quality coaching even with limited preparation time.
Ross Dixon, founder and program director of Pro Path, says the initiative’s core mission is to create opportunities for young athletes to develop, compete and envision a future beyond the game.
Parents who enrolled their children in the free clinics reported near‑perfect satisfaction, citing marked improvements in confidence, ball control and overall fitness, and they rated the coaching experience a five out of five.
A community survey, however, revealed that high registration fees, uniforms, equipment, travel costs and limited scholarship options remain major barriers, with many families spending over $5,000 annually on youth soccer.
Pro Path covered roughly $3,609.92 in direct expenses for the 2026 summer program, including flyers, trophies, equipment transport and jerseys, and it now plans to formalize its role as a clinic provider, player development partner and tournament operator in a detailed 2027 proposal.
The proposal calls for earlier planning cycles — promoting tournaments 90 to 120 days in advance — to build stronger community infrastructure and to draft a joint budget that ensures sustainable funding for affordable participation.
If approved, the partnership would enable the program to expand its reach, offering competitive play and developmental pathways to more children across the city, aligning with the city’s broader goals of youth engagement and equitable access to sport.
