Colorado College announced this week that David Powlowski will serve as both an assistant coach and the program’s director of hockey operations, a dual role designed to enhance player development and streamline the team’s administrative backbone.
Powlowski arrives after three seasons with the Rochester Jr. Americans, where he worked as an assistant general manager and assistant coach, overseeing defensive development, scouting, and recruitment while also managing player tenders, travel logistics, and liaison work with agents and NCAA coaches.
A Career Forged in Scouting and Service
Beyond the rink, Powlowski spent time in the medical field in Rochester and played for the Macon Mayhem in the SPHL during the 2019‑20 season, bringing a unique perspective on injury prevention and performance.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from Nazareth College in 2019, where he captained the Golden Flyers and became the program’s all‑time leading scorer among defensemen, finishing with 53 points in 100 games.
The hiring leverages recent NCAA rule changes that expanded staff limits, allowing the Tigers to add a dedicated operations specialist. Leadership highlighted the strategic timing of the hire, noting that the expanded staff model aligns with the program’s long‑term goals and community engagement.
