Fresno Christian Eagles transition to 11‑man football ahead of Northwest Athletic Conference debut

Veteran coach Mick Fuller and returning stars gear up for a new season, emphasizing fundamentals over expectations

A new era for the Eagles

Fresno Christian High School is set to make a significant leap in its football program, moving from eight‑man to the traditional 11‑man format for the upcoming season. The school will enter the Northwest Athletic Conference, which will be split into two divisions, marking a new chapter for the Eagles.

Veteran head coach Mick Fuller, now in his 21st year at the helm, will guide the transition. Fuller, who has built the program from the ground up, stresses that the core principles of the game remain unchanged despite the added personnel.

The roster will feature familiar faces in senior lineman Joseph Davila, who is returning from a knee injury, and running back Alex Asatrian, who amassed 1,464 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns last season. Both players are expected to anchor the offense and defense.

At quarterback, junior Dominic Ramirez, previously a tight end and linebacker, is being groomed for the new role. Coach Fuller notes that the offensive scheme will largely stay the same, allowing the team to build on its established identity.

The Eagles open the season on August 28 with a home game against Laton before traveling to face Priory on September 4 in their first official 11‑man matchup. Rather than setting win targets, Fuller says the focus is on hard work, fundamentals and staying competitive week after week.
