Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg announced the addition of Sam Orme to the Husker roster, a move that bolsters the team’s frontcourt with a proven scorer and rebounder.
Orme, a 6‑foot‑9 forward from Carmel, Indiana, concluded his most recent college season with All‑Missouri Valley Conference honors after averaging 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 40 percent from three‑point range.
During his redshirt freshman year he posted 9.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, hitting 50 percent from the field and 38 percent beyond the arc, which earned him a spot on the MVC All‑Freshman team.
His high school career at Carmel High School was marked by a 76‑game winning streak that culminated in a Class 4A state championship in 2021, and he was recognized as one of the top ten seniors in Indiana by 247Sports and HoopSeen.com.
Orme also represented Indiana in the Indiana‑Kentucky All‑Star Game and was named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Supreme 15 All‑State team, underscoring his elite status in the state.
What the Addition Means for Nebraska
The Huskers gain a versatile big man who can stretch the floor, protect the rim and contribute in multiple offensive sets. His experience in high‑pressure games should provide depth and stability as the program looks to build on recent progress.
With Orme’s size, shooting touch and proven track record, Nebraska hopes to add a new dimension to its offense and defensive versatility heading into the upcoming season.
