Stonehill College opened its 2026 men’s soccer season with a statement performance, and the spotlight quickly turned to freshman forward Killian Doherty.
A Freshman Sensation
Doherty’s debut was nothing short of spectacular. He scored two game‑winning goals and provided an assist, contributing five points that powered the Skyhawks to a 2‑0 victory over Northeastern and URI. His influence was especially evident in the match against the Huskies, where he found the net and set up the decisive strike.
The performance earned him both NEC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, underscoring his immediate impact on the team.
Stonehill’s early success has not gone unnoticed; the United Soccer Coaches have placed the Skyhawks at No. 5 in the NCAA Division I regional rankings, a promising position as the season progresses.
