Lee Pulliam Joins Peterson Racing for 2027 NASCAR Campaign

Four‑time champion replaces Austin Green in the No. 87 Chevrolet as the team eyes a strong start at Daytona

Peterson Racing has secured Lee Pulliam for a full‑time drive in its No. 87 Chevrolet, slated to compete in the 2027 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. The announcement comes as the team looks to build on a promising trajectory and add fresh talent to its lineup.

A Champion’s Arrival

A four‑time NASCAR Whelen All‑American Series national champion, Pulliam brings a résumé studded with victories at Martinsville Speedway’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300 and six straight wins at South Boston Speedway’s Thunder Road Harley‑Davidson 200. His recent fifth‑place finish in a NOAPS event at Martinsville, where he led 40 laps, underscores his ability to compete at the highest level of short‑track racing.

Pulliam will debut in October with dual appearances at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway before the season‑opening race at Daytona International Speedway. The schedule positions him to make an immediate impact on the sport’s most prestigious stage.

He replaces Austin Green, who completed the 2026 season in the same car, finishing eighth and twelfth in June events at Naval Base Coronado and Sonoma Raceway. At 38, Pulliam is thirteen years younger than his predecessor, signaling a youthful infusion aimed at long‑term growth.

General manager Chris Seibel praised the new driver, highlighting Pulliam’s talent and the potential he brings to the team’s expanding program. "We’re excited to see how Lee’s experience and determination will elevate our performance," Seibel said.

Pulliam will work closely with crew chief Jody Measemer and shop foreman Brad Brinkley, veterans who have guided his short‑track successes. Their collaboration is expected to fine‑tune the No. 87 Chevrolet for the rigors of superspeedway and short‑track alike.

Adding another layer to the roster, Nick Sanchez is slated to drive for Peterson Racing in the NOAPS race at Daytona this Friday, further diversifying the team’s prospects as the 2027 season unfolds.
