The American University men's basketball program has released its complete 2026‑27 schedule, confirming a 32‑game slate that blends non‑conference travel with a rigorous Patriot League campaign.
Home‑court emphasis
Fifteen of those contests will be played on the familiar hardwood of Bender Arena, including nine matchups that count toward the league standings, giving the Eagles a strong home‑court advantage as they chase a conference title.
Head coach Duane Simpkins, now in his fourth year at the helm, returns with a roster bolstered by several players who overcame injury setbacks last season, adding depth and experience to the lineup.
The first test of league play arrives on December 30, when the Eagles journey to face defending Patriot League champion Lehigh, a team that captured the 2026 regular‑season crown and finished second in the overall standings.
Early in the conference schedule, American will embark on two of its longest road trips, beginning with a visit to Colgate on January 6, followed by a showdown at Boston University on January 16, before returning to face Navy on January 20 after the Midshipmen’s recent regular‑season championship.
Back‑to‑back home games against Bucknell (January 27) and Boston University (January 30) will punctuate the first half of Patriot League play, while a doubleheader against Lehigh at Bender Arena is slated for February 8, featuring both men’s and women’s teams.
The regular season will close with consecutive road games at Bucknell (February 24) and Holy Cross (February 27), wrapping up a schedule that was highlighted at a Tip‑Off Dinner on October 28, where coaches and players gathered to preview the upcoming campaign.
