Makayla Figuereo Commits to Alaska Nanooks Women’s Basketball

The Lompoc native brings shooting accuracy and versatility to the University of Alaska Fairbanks program

The University of Alaska Fairbanks announced today that Makayla Figuereo has officially joined the Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team for the upcoming season.

A 5‑9 guard from Lompoc, California, Figuereo arrives after a collegiate stint at Lemoore Community College, where she posted averages of 4.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc overall and 41 percent in conference play.

Prior to her community‑college career, she starred at Lompoc High School, earning First Team All‑Ocean League honors and contributing to a CIF Central Section championship squad.

A Strategic Addition for the Program

Head coach Michael Ricks praised the newcomer's length, versatility and shooting ability, stating that her skill set aligns perfectly with the program's vision for growth.
