A Season of New Venues and Military Ties
NASCAR unveiled its 2027 Cup Series schedule on Wednesday, confirming that the season will open at Daytona International Speedway and close at Homestead‑Miami Speedway, the venue that has hosted the championship weekend since 2002 and is currently undergoing a $20 million renovation.
The exhibition Clash will take place on the Daytona weekend before the Daytona 500, setting the stage for the season’s opening race and showcasing the sport’s growing connection to military installations.
A historic All‑Star race is slated for North Wilkesboro Speedway, while the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway will serve as the final regular‑season event, determining the field for the Chase. Pocono Raceway will host a weekend in June that features all three national series.
The schedule also includes a Cup Series race at Dover Motor Speedway on May 16 and marks the return of a race at Naval Base Coronado, honoring military personnel. NASCAR and the Department of Defense have announced a multi‑year plan to expand events to additional U.S. military bases beginning in 2028.
