A New Era for Women’s Basketball
Unrivaled, the fast‑growing 3‑on‑3 women’s basketball league, announced this week that it has closed a Series C round that values the company at $650 million, effectively doubling its previous valuation.
Central to the announcement is the league’s player equity pool, now appraised at close to $200 million—a surge of 550 % since the league’s inception.
The funding was led by Ten Pillar Sports Fund, with additional participation from UC Investments, and it comfortably exceeded the $100 million target that the league had set.
Unrivaled president Alex Bazzell said the round surpasses all prior capital raises combined, underscoring confidence in the league’s vision to give athletes a stake in its success. Co‑founder Breanna Stewart echoed the sentiment, noting that the investment validates the mission to reshape professional basketball for women.
The infusion of capital will be directed toward player compensation, enhancements to the fan experience and the rollout of eight new tour stops scheduled for 2027, building on the sold‑out events that already took place in New York and Philadelphia last year.
The third season is slated to tip off in early January, supported by a six‑year media partnership with TNT, while the league looks to broaden its reach beyond the current market.
