Wichita State’s men’s basketball program has taken a decisive step forward with the promotion of Dusan Vicentic to assistant coach, a move announced by head coach Paul Mills that underscores the team’s commitment to blending playing experience with contemporary coaching theory.
A Modern Coaching Vision
Vicentic first arrived on campus in 2025 as a graduate assistant, quickly proving his value on and off the court. A native of Belgrade, Serbia, he brings a global perspective that spans five professional seasons in Greece, Slovakia and Japan, where he honed a skill set that mixes inside presence with perimeter shooting.
During the 2023‑24 campaign he posted a career‑high 17.6 points and 11.7 rebounds for BC Anagennisi Arkalochori in Greece, a performance that helped the club secure a top‑four finish in the National League 1. The following season he topped the league’s scoring charts with Hermes Argiroupolis, shooting an impressive 42.9 % from three‑point range while maintaining a rebound rate that placed him among the conference leaders.
His collegiate roots run deep as well. After starring at West Virginia Wesleyan University, where he earned Mountain East Conference First Team honors and graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration, Vicentic averaged 16.8 points and 8.5 rebounds in his senior year, signaling the blend of athletic talent and academic discipline that now informs his coaching approach.
