Loudon Love, a former Wright State standout and G League veteran, has been announced as the new assistant coach for Southern Illinois University’s men’s basketball program for the 2026‑27 season.
During his collegiate career, Love became the only player in Wright State history to surpass 1,000 rebounds, finishing with 1,124 career boards and setting a new standard for dominance on the glass.
A rebounding legacy meets coaching ambition
After a professional journey that took him to France, Italy, Canada and the NBA G League, Love returns to the Midwest with a wealth of experience, having suited up for teams such as the Texas Legends, Mexico City Capitanes and Raptors 905.
His former coach, Scott Nagy, praised Love’s personality, work ethic and basketball acumen, calling him a “valuable addition” who can translate his on‑court instincts into developmental opportunities for the Salukis.
The hiring underscores Southern Illinois’ commitment to building a program that blends proven winning pedigree with fresh strategic insight, positioning the team for a competitive future in the Missouri Valley Conference.
