RCR Announces 2027 Driver Lineup
Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has revealed its full‑time driver roster for the 2027 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, promoting two rising stars to the team’s flagship Chevrolet entries.
Chandler Smith, a 24‑year‑old Georgia native, will take the wheel of the No. 21 Chevrolet, stepping into the seat vacated by Austin Hill, who is set to move up to the NASCAR Cup Series. Smith brings a strong Truck Series pedigree, having captured three O’Reilly Series victories and a playoff run in 2024, and he will be backed by the moving‑company sponsor 1‑800‑PACK‑RAT.
Brown’s Rapid Ascent
Joining Smith, 18‑year‑old Carson Brown will drive the No. 2 Chevrolet, succeeding Jesse Love, the defending O’Reilly Series champion who is departing for the Wood Brothers Cup team at the end of 2026. Brown’s résumé includes race wins across the ASA STARS National Tour, ARCA Menards Series East and CARS Tour West, highlighted by a 200‑lap lead‑all‑lap performance.
Both drivers have signed multi‑year contracts, a move that RCR CEO Richard Childress says reflects the organization’s commitment to nurturing young talent. Childress praised Smith’s competitive drive and highlighted Brown’s character and work ethic, noting his impressive performances in development programs.
The announcements underscore RCR’s strategy of blending experience with fresh blood as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
