A Transformative Upgrade for Football’s Hall of Fame
The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, is set for a major transformation after NFL team owners voted to allocate $33 million toward the next phase of its $100 million modernization effort. The investment will fund a new grand lobby, a Coach John Madden Broadcast Studio and a suite of interactive exhibits that will greet visitors upon arrival.
Phase three, priced at $33 million, will increase the museum’s footprint by roughly 8,000 square feet. The expanded lobby will showcase video screens and interactive displays, while additional galleries will be woven throughout the existing space to deepen the narrative of the sport’s history.
Funding the Future of Football’s Hall of Fame
A centerpiece of the upgrade is the KeyBank Center, a 19‑million‑dollar facility that will provide meeting rooms, event space and a venue capable of accommodating up to 1,300 guests for enshrinement ceremonies and community programs. The center will be situated above the new lobby, linking the museum’s past with its future.
The expansion is part of the broader ‘Evolve 2030’ initiative, a six‑phase plan that aims to complete the project without incurring debt. Funding will come from a combination of league grants, naming‑rights agreements and the Hall of Fame’s own resources, ensuring financial sustainability.
Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys and chair of the NFL’s Hall of Fame Committee, led the unanimous approval of the funding on Aug. 26. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell voiced strong support, praising the league’s shared vision and expressing gratitude for the financial contribution that will preserve the sport’s legacy.
The new broadcast studio will serve both in‑house productions and guest podcasts, while the lobby’s video walls will deliver immersive experiences. Together, these elements reflect the Hall’s mission to honor greatest contributors, preserve NFL history and engage future generations.
