VMI Men’s Soccer Wins 2-1 Exhibition Over Randolph

Early-season goals and a clutch save set the stage for a upcoming clash with Saint Peter's

The VMI men's soccer squad posted a 2-1 victory over the Randolph WildCats in an exhibition match at Patchin Field, nudging their season record to 3-1-0.

Yeirin Mejia opened the scoring in the 31st minute, his third goal of the campaign, and just a minute later Jesse Lee doubled the lead with a well-placed strike assisted by Sam Dowdy.

Randolph answered back with a penalty kick in the 63rd minute that leveled the contest at 2-1, but the Keydets held firm for the remainder of play.

Junior goalkeeper Ben Bruzonic kept the pressure at bay with two crucial saves, preserving the narrow advantage.

Looking Ahead

The team’s next test arrives on August 29 when they travel to face Saint Peter's, a match that promises another early-season showdown.
