Bearcats Fall Short in Second Straight Loss
The Binghamton Bearcats men’s soccer team suffered a 3-2 defeat on the road against the Lafayette Leopards, slipping to 0-2-1 on the season. Despite a late push, the Bearcats could not overturn a deficit that had been established early in the contest.
Lafayette struck first when Noah Amankulor rose to meet a cross and headed the ball past the Binghamton keeper, giving the Leopards a 1-0 lead within the opening minutes. The early strike set the tone for a disciplined defensive display that would keep the Bearcats at bay for much of the first half.
Roy Biegon extended the lead just before halftime, finishing a precise centering pass with a calm finish that made the score 2-0. The goal seemed to tilt the momentum further in Lafayette’s favor, forcing Binghamton to chase the game.
Binghamton found a response before the break when Henry Topp collected a pass across the box and slotted it home, pulling the Bearcats within one at 2-1 as the teams headed into the locker rooms.
The second half saw Lafayette regain control, and a penalty kick by Samir Dishnica restored the two‑goal margin at 3-1. The Bearcats’ defense was unable to contain the Leopards’ set‑piece threat, and the penalty proved decisive.
With time winding down, Anthony Randazzo struck a sharp shot that cut the deficit to 3-2, sparking a brief surge of hope among the Bearcats’ supporters. However, the late goal could not alter the final outcome, leaving Lafayette to walk away with the three points.
