A New Era for the Rainbow Warriors
The University of Hawaiʻi Rainbow Warriors open their season this Saturday against Stanford, marking the first test of a revamped roster.
Defensively, the team has been drilling against Stanford quarterback Micah Alejado, using those reps to sharpen schemes and build chemistry.
Leadership has shifted to upperclassmen, with veteran linebacker Jamih Otis spearheading the linebackers and defensive back Matagi Thompson stepping into a secondary role after the departure of Peter Manuma and Kilinahe Mendiola‑Jensen.
Coach Chris Brown, associate head coach, has described the squad’s mindset as a hunting spirit, calling it the standard that the team will live by throughout the year.
The game is slated for 1 p.m. Hawaiian time and will be carried on the ACC Network and various streaming platforms, giving fans a chance to see the new‑look Warriors in action.
