Casey Hill, an accomplished NBA assistant coach with a sixteen‑year track record, has accepted a position on the University of California Golden Bears men’s basketball staff for the upcoming 2026‑27 season. His arrival follows a period in which the program finished the 2025‑26 campaign with twenty‑two victories, secured its first postseason win since 2014 and recorded eight games with ninety‑plus points, while five players ranked among the nation’s top‑100 statistical leaders.
Hill’s coaching journey began in the minor leagues, where he guided the Santa Cruz Warriors to a D‑League championship in 2015 and later served as head coach of the Agua Caliente Clippers. He spent five years as an assistant with the New Orleans Pelicans before joining the Golden Bears, and his path has included stints with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Tokyo Apaches and under prominent mentors such as Doc Rivers, Willie Green and Stan Van Gundy.
A Family of Coaches
The hire resonates beyond the court, as Hill comes from a dynasty of basketball minds. His father, Bob Hill, has built a reputation across college, NBA and international sidelines, while his brothers Cameron Hill and Chris Hill serve as head coaches at Trinity University and a Dallas high school, respectively. Hill himself played college basketball at Trinity University, reaching the 2005 Division II Elite Eight and capturing two conference titles.
Cal’s roster will feature a blend of continuity and fresh talent, with nine returning players and nine new recruits poised to build on the program’s recent momentum.
