Tennessee’s men’s basketball program is set to headline the upcoming Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, where it will play three guaranteed contests during the Thanksgiving holiday.
A Thanksgiving Tournament Like No Other
The first test arrives on Tuesday, November 24, when the Vols take on Maryland. The matchup will feature Bishop Boswell, the former Tennessee standout who transferred to the Terrapins this offseason, adding a personal storyline to the game.
A day later, on Thanksgiving Day, Tennessee will meet either Iowa State or San Diego State, a potential rematch of last season’s Sweet 16 clash with the Cyclones.
The third game, scheduled for Friday, November 27, will pit the Vols against one of St. John’s, Oregon, Louisville or Texas Tech, with a championship game waiting on Saturday, November 28 should they win their first three.
Beyond the Vegas stint, Tennessee will host Michigan State, travel to Purdue on December 12, and take part in the ACC‑SEC Challenge at Bridgestone Arena against North Carolina State.
Key Storylines
Several storylines loom over the Vols’ schedule. The presence of Bishop Boswell adds a narrative twist, while a possible rematch with Iowa State could test Tennessee’s mettle against a familiar foe. The depth of the field, which also includes powerhouses such as Kansas, Michigan and Purdue, promises a rigorous test of the team’s depth and resilience.
