Free Youth Basketball Camp Returns to Ellwood City

The camp will run for three Saturdays in September, offering a fun, co‑ed environment for children between six and twelve years old. Sessions begin at ten o’clock in the morning and wrap up at noon, taking place on the basketball courts of Ewing Park in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania.

Bob Rak, a longtime local coach, serves as the camp director. He will be joined by a team of five volunteer coaches — Al Campman, Herm Petti, Joe Fisher, Dave Sherman and Dr. Brad Brown — who will guide the youngsters through a curriculum that emphasizes ball handling, passing, dribbling, defense, shooting and small‑sided games.

Registration and Requirements

Space is limited to forty‑five participants, and registration must be completed by calling 724‑752‑9835. Parents will need to provide their child’s name and age, and either proof of insurance or signed waiver consent before a spot can be secured.

Participants are asked to bring their own basketball and a drink to each session. The organizers stress that each child must have appropriate coverage or sign the waiver to take part in the activities.

Beyond skill development, the camp aims to foster teamwork and confidence while keeping the atmosphere light and enjoyable. By the end of the three‑day series, campers should have a stronger grasp of fundamental basketball techniques and a greater love for the game.
