Texas Women’s Basketball Adds Australian Star Jayda Clark

The new recruit brings WNBL experience, international competition history, and a drive to elevate the Longhorns' program.

Texas Secures International Talent Jayda Clark

The University of Texas announced the addition of Jayda Clark to its women's basketball roster, a move that underscores the program’s continued pursuit of elite talent and reinforces its reputation as a destination for top‑level prospects.

Standing at six feet, Clark is a guard who has spent the past two seasons competing in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) in Australia, where she helped the Warwick Senators capture the 2026 NBL1 West Championship and earned both the Youth Player of the Year award and the league’s MVP honor.

Her résumé also includes appearances with the Australian national team at the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup, the 2022 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup and the 2022 FIBA U16 Women's Asian Championship, and she capped her most recent WNBL outing with a 36‑point performance that featured eight three‑pointers, five assists and five rebounds.

Coach Vic Schaefer praised the signing, describing Clark as “a great young player with experience and versatility,” and noted that her scoring ability and playmaking will complement the Longhorns’ already formidable coaching staff and roster of elite athletes.

Clark expressed enthusiasm about joining Texas, citing the program’s storied reputation and her desire to improve daily, while the university’s strong academic profile and supportive environment presented an ideal setting for her next career step.
