A New Era for the Lions
The TCNJ field hockey program entered the 2026 season with a clear message: the Lions are poised to challenge the status quo. In the NJAC preseason coaches poll, the team captured the second spot, trailing only Rowan University, which earned seven of the eight first‑place votes. The placement reflects both respect for Rowan’s recent dominance and confidence in the Lions’ revamped roster.
Stars Return, New Faces Arrive
Headlining the returners are senior forward Jadyn Huff, the 2025 NJAC Offensive Player of the Year who dished out a league‑leading 13 assists, and goalkeeper Brigitte Racey, the reigning Goalkeeper of the Year and fourth‑all‑time save leader in program history. Defender Rachael Tetzlaff, already the program’s all‑time leader in defensive saves with 16 career stops, anchors a backline that also features All‑NJAC performers Isabel Maher, Prisha Dhruve and Avery Vacca. Attackers Kara Wilson and Codie Sciacca add depth after strong 2025 contributions, giving the squad a blend of experience and fresh talent.
Aiming for the Top
The Lions open the season with a home match against Catholic University on September 2, followed by an away game at DeSales University on September 5. These early contests will test the team’s chemistry and provide a preview of the battle for the conference crown. Coach Sharon Pfluger emphasizes that the team’s goal extends beyond a single victory; it is about building a culture of mentorship and collective achievement. By guiding newcomers and harnessing the talent of returning stars, Pfluger believes the Lions can break Rowan’s five‑year conference title streak and claim the NJAC championship.
