Slippery Rock University’s field hockey program is generating buzz as two of its senior standouts earn national recognition ahead of the 2026 season.
Watchlist Accolades
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) has released its Division II watchlist, and both Lucy Hutchinson and Hilary Hoffman have secured spots, highlighting their impact on the team.
Hutchinson, a forward, earned the nod after a 2025 campaign that saw her net five goals, three of which came in game‑winning situations, while also being named to the All‑Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (All‑PSAC) team.
Hoffman, a midfielder, joins her as the sole active Slippery Rock player with more collegiate appearances than any peer, having started 39 of 41 games and amassing 24 career points — eight goals and eight assists — despite missing much of her junior year.
Their selections underscore a broader trend, as the watchlist comprises 42 athletes from across NCAA Division II, with Slippery Rock among just 11 schools contributing multiple honorees.
The team will open the 2026 schedule on September 3 at Mihalik‑Thompson Stadium against Frostburg State University, a match that promises to showcase the duo’s leadership and skill.
