Daytona International Speedway Unveils Cutting‑Edge LED Lighting Upgrade

A partnership with Musco brings a high‑efficiency lighting system that will illuminate the track, enhance broadcasts and support NASCAR’s net‑zero ambition by 2035.

Daytona International Speedway is set to transform its 2.5‑mile layout with a state‑of‑the‑art LED lighting system that will bathe the entire track in crisp, uniform illumination.

A Sustainable Leap Forward

The project, carried out in partnership with lighting specialist Musco, will install fixtures along the mast poles, the oval, the road course, the infield and pit road, ensuring that every inch of the venue receives optimal light.

Emergency lighting will be integrated with caution lights, creating synchronized visual cues that enhance safety for drivers and spectators alike.

Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s chief operating officer, said the investment reflects the sport’s commitment to modernizing the fan experience while reducing its environmental footprint.

The new system is projected to slash energy consumption by about 50%, a key step toward NASCAR’s goal of achieving net‑zero operating emissions by 2035.

This upgrade marks the first major renovation at Daytona since the $400 million ‘Daytona Rising’ overhaul, and construction is expected to be completed by January 2027.
