Lucia Magro, a sophomore at Temple University, has been selected for the 2026 NFHCA Collegiate Watch List, a preseason honor that highlights the nation’s most promising field hockey talent.
A Freshman Year to Remember
During her freshman campaign she started every game, scoring nine goals and adding two assists for a total of 20 points — the highest point total by a Temple freshman since 1987. Her performance placed her fifth in the BIG EAST for goals per game and ninth nationally for points per game, earning her All‑Mid‑Atlantic Second Team, ECAC Rookie of the Year, and All‑BIG EAST First Team honors.
A native of Argentina, Magro also made history as the first Temple player to capture BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and the first Owl to receive a conference rookie award since 2000, underscoring the significance of her rapid ascent.
The Owls will open the 2026 season at The Conference Cup in College Park, Maryland, where they are slated to face James Madison on August 28 and host Maryland two days later, a matchup that promises to test the squad’s depth early in the schedule.
With a coaching staff that emphasizes disciplined play and a roster hungry for success, Temple hopes Magro’s experience and leadership will translate into a competitive edge as they navigate a demanding non‑conference slate.
