Kentucky women's basketball has released its 2026‑27 nonconference schedule, a 14‑game slate that pits the Wildcats against five NCAA Tournament teams, including several Sweet‑16 opponents and the reigning WNIT champion. Head coach Kenny Brooks will rely on a blend of experience and fresh talent. The Wildcats open the season on November 2 against Morehead State before traveling to Charlotte for a November 8 showdown with North Carolina State. Additional nonconference battles include contests versus Evansville, Eastern Michigan, Marshall, Maine, South Dakota State, Clemson, Bellarmine, Syracuse, Virginia and Kent State, each presenting a different venue and style of play.
SEC battle
Kentucky’s SEC schedule remains among the nation’s toughest, featuring games against Florida, Auburn, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina, LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and Mississippi State. The conference slate will serve as the primary proving ground for the team’s postseason aspirations.
Looking ahead
The NCAA Tournament will expand to 76 teams, with the top 16 seeded by overall ranking rather than conference affiliation. Coach Brooks has said the team will prioritize building a competitive résumé through SEC play, using the nonconference schedule to test depth and resilience rather than chase early wins.

A highlight of the nonconference slate is a meeting with Marshall, the WNIT champion coached by Dr. Juli Fulks, who guided the team to a 28‑9 record last season.
