Kent State Women’s Basketball Announces 2026‑27 Non‑Conference Schedule

A slate of high‑profile road trips and home matchups aims to sharpen the team ahead of MAC play

Kent State's women's basketball program has released its 2026‑27 non‑conference schedule, a lineup that blends marquee road trips with a solid home slate.

A schedule built for challenge

The Golden Flashes will open the season on November 2 against Troy in a MAC‑Sun Belt Challenge matchup, then travel to face Bradley, Michigan and Kentucky, each of which pursued NCAA Tournament bids last year.

A highlight of the road portion is a visit to Lexington to meet Kentucky, a perennial powerhouse, followed by a showdown at Michigan, another top‑100 NET team from the previous season.

The team is also slated to host Marshall on December 12, the WNIT champion, as part of a four‑game stretch over eleven days that includes contests at Bradley and Michigan.

Earlier in the month, an exhibition game against Slippery Rock is set for October 28, giving the squad a chance to fine‑tune before the regular season begins.

Kent State will play five home games at the M.A.C. Center, including the December 12 matchup with Marshall and contests against Horizon League rivals Cleveland State and Youngstown State later in November.

Preparing for MAC competition

Mid‑American Conference play is scheduled to start on January 2 at Toledo, with a brief pause on February 6 for another MAC‑Sun Belt Challenge before the league schedule resumes.

Coach Todd Starkey emphasized that the non‑conference slate is designed to test the team, build depth and ensure the Flashes enter league play ready to compete for a postseason berth.

The schedule also underscores a regional focus, with several opponents located within driving distance, allowing the program to manage travel while still confronting high‑level competition.
