The Los Gatos High School field hockey team is gearing up for another shot at the title, looking to add to a storied legacy that has defined the program for decades.
Under the guidance of Coach Henry Reyes, the Wildcats have captured 18 Central Coast Section championships in the past three decades, a testament to sustained excellence.
This season, the squad returns with a core of experienced seniors, including co‑captains Stiene Bastien and Stella Musser, who will anchor both defense and attack.
Although the team graduated 24 players, it also welcomes 24 returning athletes who have already proven themselves in playoff pressure, giving the roster a rare blend of youth and veteran savvy.
Coach Reyes repeatedly emphasizes that the team’s success rests on a culture of teamwork, community backing, and athletes who play for each other rather than individual glory.
The Making of a Dynasty
The combination of seasoned leadership, a supportive community, and a commitment to continuous improvement positions Los Gatos as a unique force in public‑school sports, especially within the competitive West Catholic Athletic League.
The Wildcats will open their campaign with non‑league matches on September 2nd and 3rd, followed by conference showdowns against St. Francis and Stevenson later in September.
Beyond the field, many of the program’s alumni have gone on to compete at top universities such as Northwestern, Cornell and Rutgers, underscoring the pathway the team creates for its players.
As the new season unfolds, the Wildcats aim to blend modern game techniques with the fundamentals that have sustained their dominance, targeting yet another championship run.
