A Familiar Face Returns
Bryant Bell, a name long associated with Friday night lights in central Louisiana, is set to make his return to collegiate football after a two‑year hiatus from high school coaching. Bell spent more than ten years leading teams at Tioga and Pineville, where he built a reputation for disciplined defenses and community engagement. In the fall of 2025 he stepped away from the sidelines, spending the season mentoring his own 11‑year‑old son before turning his attention to the next chapter.
The transition to college came unexpectedly when Louisiana College University’s head coach, Ben McLaughlin, approached Bell with a specific request: to oversee the defensive backs unit. McLaughlin highlighted the unit’s impressive 2025 campaign, which produced 19 takeaways and a knack for forcing turnovers. Bell’s extensive experience as a head coach, particularly in shaping defensive schemes, made him an obvious fit for the role.
Bell will join a roster that reads like a who’s who of Central Louisiana talent. Several former high school stand‑outs from the region, including Hy’Keem Mix from Pineville, will now play under his guidance. The coach’s familiarity with these players, forged over years of scouting and mentorship, promises a seamless integration and a shared understanding of expectations.
Local Roots, New Horizons
Beyond the X’s and O’s, Bell’s return resonates with the local community. Parents, alumni and former players alike have voiced enthusiasm, citing his proven track record and personal investment in the region. As the season unfolds, the blend of seasoned insight and hometown talent may well define a new era for Louisiana College football.
