Bellarmine University’s women’s soccer squad opened its season with a 2-0 defeat at NKU Soccer Stadium on Thursday night, slipping to an early loss as the Wildcats fell to the Norse.
Second-Half Decisiveness
Natalie Newman found the back of the net twice for Northern Kentucky, the first coming in the latter stages of the half and the second sealing the result in the 81st minute.
The Norse outshot Bellarmine 16‑5 overall, including a 5‑3 edge in shots on target, underscoring the disparity in attacking pressure.
Bellarmine managed three shots on goal in the opening ten minutes of the second half, but could not convert any of those chances.
The match marked the first appearance of the new Bellarmine roster, a young side still looking for chemistry on the field.
Next Challenge
The Wildcats will travel to face Indiana University on Thursday, September 3 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time, hoping to rebound against the Hoosiers at IU Indy.
