App State Soccer rolled past East Carolina 4-0 on a crisp evening at Johnson Stadium, improving to 3-0 in road contests and outscoring opponents 9-1 away from home this season.
A milestone night for the program
The Mountaineers’ attack was led by Hayden Petrick and Ellie Garrison, each finding the net twice, while Lucy Harrington added the final marker in the 77th minute after a precise header from Walker Bristow on a corner kick.
Sofia Goclowski also contributed by setting up Olivia Simon, whose left‑footed strike in the second half sealed the win, marking the fourth goal of the match that originated from a corner kick this year.
Defensively, the team posted its third straight clean sheet, a streak that began in late August 2023 and now stands as the longest since that period, with goalkeeper Hanna Skogsfors making four saves to preserve the shutout.
The win also highlighted App State’s dominance in set pieces, out‑cornering East Carolina 9‑2 and out‑shooting them 18‑5 overall, while midfielders such as Ellie Garrison and Olivia Simon combined for a high volume of on‑target attempts.
Looking ahead, the Mountaineers will host William & Mary on Sunday for senior day, where the program will honor a group of graduating players including Molly Coles, Sofia Goclowski, Ella Hoover, Makayla Mulholland, Marley Kahle, Kaytan Kroboth, Hayden Petrick, and Olivia Simon in a pre‑match ceremony.
The upcoming matchup offers a chance to extend the team’s unbeaten run as they aim to continue their strong road performance against a disciplined William & Mary side.
