A Comeback for the Ages
The Chattanooga women's soccer team traveled to Nashville on Thursday night to face Lipscomb, entering the match after a slow start that left them down 2-0 at the break.
An own goal by Lipscomb in the fourth minute and a strike from the Bisons in the 17th gave the home side a comfortable lead, but the Mocs refused to surrender.
The second half saw a dramatic shift in momentum. Savannah Dunahay found the net in the 46th minute, and Emma Reeves added a second in the far corner shortly thereafter, sparking a rally that would close the gap and eventually equalize.
Chattanooga outshot Lipscomb 27-9, with 11 of those attempts on goal, and earned seven corner kicks. Goalkeeper Lilly Kate Varino made four crucial saves to keep the visitors in contention.
Key Contributions
Midfielder Paige Thomas, forward Emma Reeves and EG Dillard combined for 18 shots, underscoring the team's attacking depth. Their efforts, coupled with solid defensive work, set the stage for the upcoming showdown.
Looking Ahead
The Mocs will host Eastern Kentucky on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., with free admission for fans. The match promises another test of resilience as Chattanooga looks to build on the momentum generated against Lipscomb.
