The Lions managed only 12 attempts, three of which were on target, while Villanova generated 13 shots, seven of them on frame, underscoring the disparity in offensive pressure.

Villanova struck first in the 21st minute when Ambyr Baker found the net, and the visitors doubled their lead in the 50th minute through Avrie Nelsen. Goalkeeper Samantha Mahoney made five saves, including a key stop in the 24th minute by Hannah Dickinson.
The defeat sets up a quick rematch, with Columbia slated to host La Salle on August 30 at 1 p.m. at the same venue, aiming to adjust their approach and secure a win.
Coach and players alike emphasized the need for sharper finishing and tighter defensive organization as the team looks to turn the early loss into a learning experience.
